Expanding opportunity

dive lab model promotes access & inclusivity

Dive Lab’s specific charitable purposes are to develop and promote the sport of diving, to foster amateur competitive diving teams, and host amateur competitions at the national and international levels in a collaborative, supportive, holistic and inclusive environment. Dive Lab’s holistic and technical approach to diving focuses on the joy of diving and encourages personal development and intrinsic self-worth. One of Dive Lab’s goals is to expand the opportunity to participate in recreational and competitive diving by furthering and promoting inclusion within the sport through both increased access and increased affordability. Dive Lab makes the sport affordable by offering reduced rates to those without sufficient means to participate. Dive Lab plans to offer the opportunity to participate in its diving programs to as many people as possible. Dive Lab also intends to promote greater well-being in the community through the life-long benefits to people of all ages of being engaged in athletics.

In order to carry out these charitable purposes, Dive Lab has commenced holding diving lessons and practices with trained professionals for people ages 5 and up, programs with multi-disciplinary specialists, including sports psychologists, to address the greater wellness of the athletes, and dryland trainings including strength and conditioning classes, mobility and bodywork, focusing on movement. Dive Lab also plans to host diving competitions, tournaments, and meets and host training camps and seminars. These activities are being and will continue to be offered in a fun, positive, supportive manner and will include sports psychology with goal achievement strategies and general education on self-care and well-being of the athletes. All of Dive lab’s time is devoted to these activities which are funded through donations and fees.

In addition, Dive Lab plans to create a coach mentorship program with experienced divers. The program will give those divers additional opportunities to stay involved in the sport, with coaching-specific education, and will provide support to the novice or less-experienced athletes.

In addition to providing reduced fees for those in need, Dive Lab plans to assist with transportation to pools and meets, funding for coaches, and costs of competition-related expenses for eligible divers and families. Dive Lab does not turn anyone away because they cannot afford to participate. Dive Lab also intends to offer free learn-to-dive days in conjunction with a USA Diving initiative in order to expand access to the sport of diving.
